Why Are Some Users Not Able to Eligible to Vote?

It may happen that some users see a poll, but cannot participate in it.

Customers often ask why some of their users cannot participate in a poll, although they see it.

There are multiple reasons:

  1. The poll is inactive: In that case, all buttons are disabled and cannot be clicked at all.

  2. Geoblocking prevents participation: Our customers can restrict participation to certain countries. If the user then clicks on an answer, a corresponding error message is displayed. Although users are often physically located in a country that would in principle allow participation, they are virtually assigned to another country based on their IP address. The main reason for this is a VPN that the user has activated. We use MaxMind's database for detection and users can easily check their location here: https://www.maxmind.com/en/locate-my-ip-address

  3. We have detected fraud: If a user tries to vote too many times within a short period of time, we will block the user for 10 minutes. We often see this behaviour with multiple users in a larger office using the same IP address. For internal testing (e.g., during the conception phase of a poll) this can be mitigated by setting the "Multiple Voting" option to "Every second".

  4. The reCaptcha was not solved correctly: Our customers can secure a poll using the well-known picture puzzles. If it is solved incorrectly (or even blocked by a plug-in because it is loaded from a Google domain), participation is not possible.

  5. The reCaptcha was not configured correctly. In this case, please contact the website owner directly.

None of the above reasons apply to you? Feel free to reach out via support chat and we will check your case right away.
